Funny Story by Emily Henry
“Funny Story was my #1 fiction book of the year in 2024! It follows the story of Daphne, who gets her heart broken by her fiancé when he leaves her for someone else. Then, Daphne ends up moving in with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex. Most of the time, this book had me giggling to myself. At other times, it had me re-feeling allllll my previous heartbreaks. I loved it and I have not been able to get it out of my head!”
Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings
Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings is the first book in a currently 5 book adult romance series (soon to be 6 books). This novel follows main characters Magnolia Parks and BJ Balentine as they navigate Londons’ social scene, friendly and familial relationships and new romances. At the start of the book readers already know that Magnolia and BJ have been broken up for 3 years despite having had a decade long romance, which is considered to be epic by those who know them. However as new relationships begin, their friendship is being put to the test, as they figure out what exactly their roles are within each other’s lives. The romance of Magnolia and BJ is not one to be admired, replicated or used as aspiration. To put it simply: theirs is a toxic love. However this is a train wreck that you cannot look away from, in fact this 450 page novel can be read within a day. The writing itself is aware of its soap opera nature and leans into it by being cheeky and often addressing the readers directly. Overall this is a fun, dramatic novel that is well written and involves a found family which is both heartwarming and entertaining. This book is perfect for fans of the TV series Gossip Girl, for fans of reading romances from both points of view and for people who like reading about rich people being careless.
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
The Unhoneymooners is a charming enemies-to-lovers romance that keeps you hooked from start to finish. It follows Olive and Ethan, two people who don’t get along, who decide to pretend to be a couple for the sake of an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii. Olive and Ethan’s banter is top-tier, and their forced proximity in paradise makes for both really funny and swoon-worthy moments. The mix of humor, romance, and unexpected twists keeps the story fresh and entertaining. If you love witty dialogue, fake-dating tropes, and tropical getaways, and are looking for a quick, breezy read, this book is a must!
